Our new Echuca Hospital display will shock and amaze at just how primitive medicine was in the early days of the town. Check out some of the old surgical instruments, that look more like medieval torture devices than life-saving tools. We regularly turn over the outfits in the costume room and have once again just changed the display to now feature a recent donation of three white afternoon dresses from 1880 alongside three of our well-loved ‘regulars’ from 1847 to 1900

About the Program

Our new Echuca Hospital display will shock and amaze at just how primitive medicine was in the early days of the town. Check out some of the old surgical instruments, that look more like medieval torture devices than life-saving tools. We regularly turn over the outfits in the costume room and have once again just changed the display to now feature a recent donation of three white afternoon dresses from 1880 alongside three of our well-loved ‘regulars’ from 1847 to 1900

Further Infomation

Also included in the display are beaded decorations for the fashionable woman from 1880 – and there’s no doubt many of these accessories would work perfectly well today. Groups are welcome but please let us know so we can accommodate your visit.

  • Please Note: If you are traveling some distance, for research purposes or to view family artefacts that we may have, it is recommended that you contact us prior to your visit.
