Taronga’s Zoomobile is a unique incursion program that delivers hands-on animal experiences straight into your classroom or school hall. Led by Taronga Educators (and sometimes a very special Aboriginal Elder), Zoomobile sessions are rich in storytelling, science, and close-up encounters with incredible Australian species.

Whether you’re looking for an early learning program, a K–12 science workshop, or a cultural experience like Animals of the Dreaming, Zoomobile makes it meaningful, memorable and wildly fun.

Each session includes:

  • Live native animals (e.g., frog, possum, lizard, snake, turtle, echidna)

  • Hands-on observation and discussion

  • Curriculum-aligned content by stage

  • Passionate and qualified Taronga educators

🚌 Zoomobile is available to visit schools, preschools, and community groups across NSW.

Why teachers love this program:

  • It brings high-quality zoo education directly into the classroom

  • No need for travel approvals or permission slips

  • Students engage deeply through real-life animal interactions

  • It supports Science, Geography, Sustainability, and Aboriginal perspectives

  • It’s an easy way to enrich the school day with zero hassle

Workshop Options (by Stage):

Early Stage 1 – Stage 1: Backyard Buddies

Students explore the needs of wildlife in their local environment and learn how to support them by creating backyard habitats.

Stage 2: Life Cycles

Students discover how animals grow and change, using live examples to discuss lifecycles and developmental needs.

Stage 3: Adaptations

Explore the physical and behavioural features that help animals survive — and how environmental change puts these to the test.

Stage 3: Predator and Prey

Students compare animal adaptations and learn how predator and prey species evolve strategies to outwit each other in nature.

Stage 4: Classification and Adaptations

Students investigate scientific classification and use live animal examples to link structural adaptations to evolutionary traits.

Stage 5: Environmental Change and Management

Through the lens of Australian and Asian wildlife, students explore human impacts on the environment and actions for sustainability.

Stage 6: Biological Diversity

Students examine specialisation and evolutionary adaptations, linking ecological relationships to real-world biodiversity management.
