Circus Workshop
Ta-da! The circus has arrived, and it’s…YOU!
Experience the CirqueUm Navigate Circus, lead by a dazzlingly skilled performer who brings with them the whole kit and kaboodle to turn your school into their very own circus!
Watch an incredible circus performer, learn circus skills with a variety of tools, play games, hear about the history of circus, embrace challenges and more fun.
What happens in the incursion?
Your Circus Ringmaster for the day performs first a circus show including the history of circus, then launches into games and skill-building activities with a variety of tools.
In the final portion of the workshop, the children then explore the use of all the circus tools in a self-directed manner, with the presenter moving through the group offering targeted challenges and teaching to each students’ level as they practice and experiment with solo/small-group techniques.
Adaptable to All Ages and Skill-Levels
We are adept at communicating skills to all kids, irrespective of their age. While this incursion suits primary-school-aged kids and up, it can also be altered to fit pre-schoolers’ abilities, too.
Each circus tool has moves and skills that increase in difficulty, meaning that the full breadth of ability-levels can be addressed within the one workshop.
We guarantee each child will succeed in achieving skills with each tool – this is the goal of the way we teach and the challenges we set.
We want every participant to unlock the joys of trying something new and doing something they didn’t realise they could!
Suitable For All Group Sizes
We can accommodate any number of children in this incursion, up to and including your entire school population! See our Q&As for how.
What skills will the children learn?
The CirqueUm Navigate Circus Workshop involves the use of the following circus tools:
- spinning plates
- poi
- flower sticks (Deville Sticks)
- juggling balls / juggling scarves
- Depending on age-group, diabolo or juggling hats are also included.
Syllabus objective support documents provided.
